Pinacoteca do Estado do Amazonas
Pinacoteca do Estado do Amazonas (Amazon Art Gallery)
Devised by the artist Moacir Andrade and located at the Palacete Provincial (Provincial Palace), a historic building from 1874 that is home to other cultural centers, the Pinacoteca do Estado do Amazonas (Amazon Art Gallery) was established in 1965 and has a collection of over a thousand works. Including paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints, visitors can experience and enjoy expressive works of regional and Brazilian art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The permanent exhibition Luz – Panorama das Artes Plásticas no Amazonas (Light - Overview of Amazon Visual Arts) emphasizes the specificity of the state collections amid the national artistic production. Works of Cícero Dias, Bernadette Andrade, Moacir Andrade and Emmanuel Nassar stand out.
