Museu Vivo da Memória Candanga
Museu Vivo da Memória Candanga (Living Museum of Candanga Memory) E
stablished in 1957, the Museu Vivo da Memória Candanga (Living Museum of Candanga Memory) occupies the premises of the first hospital complex of Brasília, the former Juscelino Kubitschek Hospital. The term candango refers to those who migrated to the future capital to work in it’s construction. Together with the Museu do Catetinho (Museum of Catetinho), they represent the two most significant examples of the architecture of that time. The collection consists of five sub collections laid out to the public in four permanent exhibitions - as the exhibition Poeira, lona e concreto (Dust, Canvas and Concrete) - which emphasizes the role of the candangos in the construction of Brasília and the outcropping of an eclectic cultural universe.
