Museu Villa-Lobos
Museu Villa-Lobos (Villa-Lobos Museum)
Created in 1960, the museum is the result of the effort of Villa-Lobos’s (1887-1959) second wife, Arminda Neves d' Almeida (1912-1985), whose dedication ensured that the venue was opened about a year after the passing of the great maestro and Brazilian composer. In order to preserve his legacy, it keeps objects and documents about his life and vigorous work. The expressivity of the collection is impressive: about 2,300 scores in original manuscripts, printed ones and several reproductions; 1,600 photographs; programs and posters of his concerts, in addition to sound and audiovisual files. The museum constantly carries out cultural and educational activities such as Mini-Concertos Didáticos (Educational Mini-Concerts) and Encontro de Corais (Choir Gatherings).
