Museu Udo Knoff de Azulejaria e Cerâmica (Udo Knoff Museum of Ceramic and Tiles)
The Museu Udo Knoff de Azulejaria e Cerâmica (Udo Knoff Museum of Ceramic and Tiles) is the result of the private collection of German ceramist settled in Bahia: Horst Udo Knoff Erich (1912-1994). Housed in a building of the eighteenth century in Pelourinho, the historic center of Salvador, the museum was created in 1994 and keeps a collection of tiles from the seventeenth to the twentieth century. The tiles are from Portuguese, English, French, Dutch, Mexican and Belgian origin. There are also glazed tiles, jars and reproductions of antique tiles, mostly collected from houses destined for demolition. This is a unique collection, which includes works from Udo Knoff himself, and objects created during workshops and educational activities regularly held at the museum.
