Museu Palácio Joaquim Nabuco

Joaquim Nabuco Palace Museum

Built in 1870, the headquarters of Pernambuco Legislative Assembly was renamed Joaquim Nabuco Palace in 1948. The building, located on the banks of the River Capibaribe still preserves much of the furniture specially made for the Palace in the 1870s and 1880s. Other pieces of furniture brought from the original ALEPE headquarters, in Fort Matos, in the neighbourhood of Recife, joined later. The venue is dedicated to tell, through documents and meticulously selected images, the history of the Palace as well as the development of social and political relationships in Pernambuco and Brazil since the nineteenth century.
