Museu Nacional dos Correios (National Postal Museum)
The Museu Nacional dos Correios (National Postal Museum), opened to the public in January 1980, keeps a collection that holds about one million items and is housed in a five-story building. Through diverse objects, photoraphs and paintings, the space takes the audience on a tour throughout the history of communications in Brazil, from the installation of telegraph networks and the development of postal communication. It also has a section dedicated to the study and collection of national and foreign stamps. Its auditorium welcomes musical and theatrical performances as well as film exhibits and frequently hosts temporary exhibitions.
