Museu Mineiro (Mineiro Museum)

Installed in a historic building built at the end of the 19th century, the Museu Mineiro has a unique collection of about 3,500 objects that depict different periods of Minas Gerais history and the varied constituent features of the state's culture. Formed by 46 collections from different institutions, as well as individuals, the museum brings together paintings, sculptures, furniture, everyday instruments, sacred art pieces, among others. From the collection, some paintings by Mestre Ataíde that originally decorated a chapel in the city of São Domingos do Prata are some of the rarities stored in the museum. The Mineiro Museum is part of the Circuito Liberdade cultural itinerary, which includes other museums and cultural centers: MM Gerdau - Museum of Mines and Metal, Memorial Minas Gerais Vale, Knowledge Space UFMG, Center for Popular Art - CEMIG, Casa Fiat de Culture and the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center - BH.
