Museu Júlio de Castilhos (Museum Júlio de Castilhos)

The Museu Júlio de Castilhos (Museum Júlio de Castilhos) was established in 1903 as a State Museum and received its current name only in 1907, as a tribute to the journalist and politician Júlio de Castilhos, twice former governor of the state. Its collection is made up of over 11,000 items that shape a portrait of the customs, lifestyle, social relations of production and state political history of the people from Rio Grande do Sul. There are 29 collections, which can be visited and enjoyed during the long-term exhibitions. To mention a few, there are iconographic, household appliances, personal use objects, machinery and armouries collections. The space Revolução Farroupilha (Farroupilha Revolution) and Sala Missioneira (Missioneira Hall) are highlights.
