Museu do Estado de Pernambuco - MEPE (Museum of Pernambuco State - MEPE)

Created in 1929 and installed in a mansion of the nineteenth century, the Museu do Estado de Pernambuco (Museum of Pernambuco State) has a collection of over 14,000 items, from various origins and nature, gathered in different collections such as: Indigenous Culture, Dutch Presence in Pernambuco, Afro-Brazilian Culture, Paintings (including works from Cícero Dias and Franz Post), Former Vows, among others. The building belonged to Dr. Augusto Frederico de Oliveira, son of Baron of Beberibe (1788-1855) and exhibits, in a venue of over 9,000 square meters, objects impregnated of symbolism for the state’s history. The annex to the mansion called Espaço Cícero Dias (Cícero Dias Space) has rooms prepared to receive temporary exhibitions.
