With the original collection of coins, banknotes, medals and historical documents of the Amazon merchant Bernardo de Azevedo da Silva Ramos (1858-1931), the Museum of Numismatics of Amazonas holds over seventeen thousand pieces, including rarities such as Greek coins, Etruscan and Byzantine coins, coins made of leather, glass, shells and porcelains, collections of Brazilian and Spanish coins from the 19th century, among others. Bernardo Ramos was a numismatic enthusiast and toured several countries in Europe and the Middle East acquiring rare coins from various countries. The Bernardo Ramos Numismatic Museum is housed in the Palacete Provincial Cultural Center, which includes four other museums: the Tiradentes Museum, the Archeology Museum, the State Gallery of Amazonas and the Museum of Image and Sound of Amazonas.
