Museu de Cultura Popular Djalma Maranhão (Museum of Popular Culture Djalma Maranhão)
Inaugurated in August 2008, the Museu de Cultura Popular Djalma Maranhão (Museum of Popular Culture Djalma Maranhão) is a center of preservation and dissemination of the culture and popular traditions of Rio Grande do Norte. The puppet theater, folk dances and merrymaking, folk traditions, cults and religious beliefs are represented by over 2,000 pieces of the collection whose authorship refers to about 400 artists. The long-term exhibit Atos de Memória: Tradição e Cultura do Povo Potiguar (Acts of Memory: Tradition and Culture of Potiguar People) is carefully arranged in decorated and intentionally softly lit rooms which favours introspection and individual experience with art.
