Museu de Astronomia e Ciências Afins (Astronomy and Related Sciences Museum)

Created in 1985 with the purpose of expanding society's access to scientific and technological knowledge through research, preservation and dissemination of collections related to the history of science and technology in Brazil, the MAST museum conducts a series of educational activities with visitors. Alongside the permanent exhibitions – Olhar o céu, mediar a terra (Look at the sky, mediate the earth) and Visões da Luz (Light Visions) - temporary exhibitions, usually packed with interactive content, are constantly displayed at its headquarters. The Programa Observação do Céu (Sky Observation Program) offers the public the opportunity to observe and learn about the sky at night by the use of telescopes, bezels and the lecture O céu do mês (The monthly sky).
