Museu de Artes e Ofícios (Museum of Arts and Crafts)
Housed in the listed buildings of the former Central Train Station in the centre of Belo Horizonte, the Museu de Artes e Ofícios (Museum of Arts and Crafts) was opened in December 2005. Its implementation was gradual: it first went through a careful restoration of the station’s old buildings, then a temporary exhibition named Trilhos da Memória (Railways of Memory) followed by the research and assembly of the permanent exhibition. This exhibition preserves a rich collection of arts and crafts of the Brazilian pre-industrial period bringing out its immaterial dimension and leading visitors to reflect on the knowledge and skills of relationships in the workforce of those times.
