Museu de Arte Religiosa e Tradicional (Museum of Religious and Traditional Art)

Created in 1968 in order to protect the building and preserve the memory of the former Convento de Nossa Senhora dos Anjos (Convent of Our Lady of Angels), the Museu de Arte Religiosa e Tradicional (Museum of Religious and Traditional Art) of Cabo Frio was only opened in 1982. The beginning of the construction of the Franciscan convent was in 1686 and the historical importance of the building was well kept after the building became listed in January 1957. The highlights of its collection is a set of terracotta and polychrome wood images from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries as well as some recently restored works from the nineteenth century.
