Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul Ado Malagoli (Ado Malagoli Art Museum of Rio Grande do Sul)

The Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul (Art Museum of Rio Grande do Sul) holds about 2,700 pieces and gathers works of art of the twentieth century from Rio Grande do Sul artists and significant examples of national and international works. Established in 1954 by Ado Malagoli (1906-1994), artist and a professor from São Paulo, it keeps one of the most meaningful collections of Brazil. Some of the paintings such as the Menino do papagaio by Cândido Portinari, A Dama de Branco by Arthur Timóteo da Costa and A creche by Henri Jules Jean Geoffroy, are gems and have inestimable artistic value. The works on paper are the most voluminous of all the collection and the highlight are the lithographs, woodcuts and drawings.
