Museu de Arte da Universidade Federal do Ceará
Museu de Arte da Universidade Federal do Ceará (Art Museum of the Federal University of Ceará)
Committed to the strengthening of the visual arts, the Museu de Arte da Universidade Federal do Ceará (Art Museum of the Federal University of Ceará) was inaugurated in June 1961 and has established itself as an important center for the preservation of artistic culture from Ceará. The museum often hosts temporary exhibitions and its collection includes an important group of works from Ceará artists. The collection Cicatrizes Submerses (Submerged Scars) from artist Descartes Gadelha, with paintings and sculptures on Antônio Conselheiro and the Arraial de Canudos as well as the hall with works from Brazilian painter and draftsman Antônio Bandeira (1922-1967) are spaces for reflection, which favour findings and self-discoveries.
