Space for celebrating and spreading the diversity and richness of the popular culture of Minas Gerais,
the Centro de Arte Popular - Cemig was inaugurated in 2012. Installed in the headquarters of the old Hospital San Tarcisio, the place was completely renovated to fit the museum's design. Its collection consists of about 800 pieces and contemplates works in different artistic languages such as sculptures, paintings and drawings. The space guides the visitors through a course of intimate connection with the origins of the popular culture of Minas Gerais, recreating their stories and their beliefs.
